About Us

Tryon Elementary School is a place where students are encouraged to lead, grow and succeed. Serving students in kindergarten through fifth grade, we provide a welcoming environment focused on academics, leadership and personal development.

We are proud to be the only elementary school in Gaston County with a National Honor Society program. Students who demonstrate excellence in academics, leadership and character are honored with an induction ceremony each year. Our Student Council gives students a voice in their school through a school-wide election process, and our Safety Patrol leads monthly service projects such as food and clothing drives and collecting supplies for families in need.

Our classrooms are small, with fewer than 20 students in each, allowing teachers to focus on each child’s individual needs. Students receive support in both reading and math during flex time through small group instruction. This extra help ensures that every student has the chance to grow and succeed.

Tryon Elementary is also proud of its diverse and experienced staff. Many of our teachers have spent their entire careers here, and we welcome international teachers who bring rich cultural experiences and perspectives into our classrooms. This diversity helps students learn about the world beyond their community and sparks curiosity about other cultures and languages.

We also believe in the power of the arts. Last year, we hosted our first school-wide Christmas concert, where every grade level performed and our art classes helped decorate the event. It was a celebration of creativity, teamwork and school spirit.

At Tryon Elementary School, we are more than just a school—we are a community where every student is seen, supported and encouraged to become their best self.
